  • 1 lb. (500 g) lean ground beef
  • 7 1/2 oz. (213 g) can tomato sauce
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 14 oz. (398 ml) can tomatoes
  • 3 cups broad egg noodles, cooked and drained
  • 4 oz. light cream cheese, cubed
  • 1 cup sour cream (fat-free is fine)
  • 6 green onions, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups grated light cheddar cheese



Step 1

Brown meat and drain. Add tomato sauce, garlic, salt, pepper, sugar and tomatoes. Cover and simmer over low heat for 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 F. Combine hot noodles with cubed cream cheese. Stir to melt cheese. Add sour cream and green onions. In a greased 3 qt. baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodle mixture and cheddar cheese alternately. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes. Serves 6.
