AirBaked German Butter Cookies

By

Some called it the German Melt-In-Your Butter cookies, whatever it is Butter is the main ingredient here so I will called it the German Butter Cookies. In Germany, there is also a similar recipe and it is bake during the Christmas season.

This is a really easy recipe and there is no complicated step to get the dough done, and you can also make these cookies into different flavor by adding additional 1 tbsp powder form flavoring (such as cocoa powder, matcha powder) or 1 tsp of liquid form flavoring (such as vanilla extract). But this time around I will make the plain/original flavor - butter!

Ingredients

  • 125 gm Butter (softened - not melted)
  • 40 gm Icing Sugar (I used brown sugar blitzed into powder form)
  • 125 Potato Starch
  • 80 gm Plain Flour (All-purpose flour)
  • Optional - 1 tsp Vanilla Extract or 2 tbsp Cocoa/Matcha Powder

Preparation

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, beat butter and icing sugar till light and fluffy. (Optional: Add in the vanilla extract or cocoa/matcha powder and continue to beat until it is well combined)
Add the potato starch and flour into the butter mixture. Use a spatula or hand to mix then form a soft dough (Tips: If the dough appears too soft and wet to shape, leave the dough to chill in the fridge for about 10 minutes)
Preheat the AirFryer at 160°C. In the meantime, line the frying basket with an aluminium foil or baking sheet.
•Roll dough into small balls and arrange them on the lined frying basket. Use a fork and press lightly on the small round dough (Tips: Dip the fork in water after each press to prevent the cookie dough from sticking to the fork)
AirBake these cookies for 12-15 minutes (Tips: No need to bake the cookies till it turn brown)

Same recipe as mentioned above with additional of 1 tablespoon of Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, once the dough is formed simply divide the dough into 2 portion (1 will be original and the other portion will be cocoa flavor). Combine a little of both portions to create a marble effect.
