Ingredients
- 4 cups mochiko (2) 10-ounce packages
- 3 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
- 3 cups water (including yam liquid)
- (1) 16-ounce can yams, mashed
- 3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
- toasted sesame seeds
- 3-4 ti leaves
Preparation
Step 1
Dissolve sugar in boiling water. Add mashed yams. Cool thoroughly. Add mixture to mochiko, about half a cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Pour into greased, ti leaf lined 9 x 13 inch pan. Cover tightly with foil. Place pan with batter on top shelf of oven and place a pan of water on lower shelf. Bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours. Remove foil immediately after baking. Brush top with oil and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Let stand until firm before cutting.
