Ingredients
- Glaze:
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 3/4 cups water*
- 1/2 cup Crisco
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. each cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg and salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 Tbs boiled water
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Preparation
Step 1
Combine raisins and water in medium saucepan. Boil for 20 mins. (*Add a little more water when starting to boil; turn down heat to slow boil to preserve liquid.) Measure out a cup liquid. Add 1/2 cup crisco to liquid; let cool. Then add baking soda to water (It sizzles!)
Combine sugar, flour, spices and egg. Add raisins. Spread in greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 mins. Let cool completely.
Combine glaze ingredients. It will be very thin. Spread on top of cake.
