Cakes: Jean Foreman's Caramel Nut Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 box light brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 t baking powder
  • 1 cup sweet milk or evaporated milk
  • 1 T vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter, shortening and brown sugar, a little at a time
Beat well, add granulated sugar
Beat until light and fluffy
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each
Beat 3 minutes
Sift together dry ingredients, add alternately with milk
Add vanilla and nuts
Bake in tube pan 1 hour and 30 minutes at 350 degrees
