Sugar Cookies

Perfect Sugar Cookie dough for rolled Sugar cookies and cookie bouquets. Does not loose it's shape when baked.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups flour

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar with electric mixer. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift baking powder with flour. Add flour mixture, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. The dough will be very stiff. Blend in the last of the flour by hand. DO NOT CHILL. Roll and cut out shapes. Bake 8-10 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned. Remove cookies to cooling rack to cool completely before decorating.

To make cookie bouquet: Roll dough to 1/8" thickness on a pastry mat.
Cur desired shapes using cookie cutters, dusted with flour to prevent sticking.
Using the cookie spatula dusted with flour, place cookies on cookie sheet. Leave a 1: space between cookies to allow for Cookie Stick placement.
To insert cookie stick:
place hand on top of cookie to hold in place
insert cookie stick by twisting and pushing stick
insert cookie stick all the way into within 1/2" of top
Bake as instructed above.
