- 2 pounds navy white beans
- 1 package pickled meat
- 1 large onion chopped
- 3 tablespoons cooking oil
- 2 teaspoons Arm & Hammer baking soda
- salt to taste

Preparation
Step 1
To prepare beans: Bring water to boil, add baking soda and beans. Return to boil, remove from heat, and let stand overnight in water. Drain and wash beans. Using fresh water, fill until 3 inches over beans. Bring to boil and continue to boil for a while. Drain, rinse, and repeat.
In cooking oil, cook pickled meat and onion until tender. Add beans and fresh water and cook down until thick.
