  • 1 1/2 cups butter flavor crisco
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375°

Cream Crisco and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla.

In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture.

Chill dough for at least 1 hour, or until easy to handle.

On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with desired shape cookie cutter.

Place cookies 1 inch apart on greased baking sheets. Sprinkle with additional sugar if desired.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned..

Remove to wire racks to cool.

Frost cookies if desired.
