Ingredients
- 7 cups sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 cups cocoa
- 1 tbsp plus 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp salt
- 2 cups shortening

Step 1
Combine first five ingredients; stir well. Cut in shortening with pastry blender unitl mixture resembles corn meal. Place in airtight container; store in a cool, dry place or in refrigerator up to six weeks.
To Make brownies:
3 cups Brownie mix
1/2 cup chopped pecans (opt.)
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients, stirring until blended. Pour into a greased and floured 8x8 pan. Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool and cut into squares. Yield: 16 bronwies.
PS - Pour chocolate chips on top right after removing from oven. When melted, spread around for a simple icing.
