Kentucky Burgoo

Ingredients

  • 1 frying chicken, cut up
  • 1 lb. round steak, cut in cubes
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 3 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 envelope French's Cillo Mix
  • 3/4 tsp. French's garlic salt
  • 1 can (1 lb.) tomatoes
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 pkg. (10 oz) frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 package (10 oz) frozen okra (if desired)

Preparation

Step 1

Brown chicken, steak and onion in shortening large skillet. Stir in Chili-O Mix from the envelope, garlic salt, tomatoes and water. Cover: simmer 1 hour. Add mixed vegetables and, if desired, okra; simmer 10 mins. longer.

Serve with Golden Corn bread.
