Ingredients

  • 3 strips thick-sliced bacon, diced
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced tart apple1 1/2 t. all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup apple cider
  • 2 T sugar
  • 2 T. chicken broth
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 cups shredded green cabbage2 T. chopped fresh parsley

Preparation

Step 1

Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp; pour off all but 2 T. drippings

Add onion and apple to skillet; cook over medium heat until softened; 3 - 4 minutes. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute.
Stir in vinegar, sugar and broth; season with salt and pepper. Add cabbage and toss to wilt, 3 - 4 minutes. Stir in parsley and serve
