Peach Barbecue Sauce

  • 2

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon adobo sauce from a can of chipotle chiles
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sliced fresh or frozen peaches

Preparation

Step 1

1. Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook just until fragrant, about 1 minute.

2. Stir in tomato sauce, vinegar, sugar, adobo sauce, mustard, allspice, and salt. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes. Add peaches and cook until starting to soften, 2 to 5 minutes.

3. Transfer to a blender and purée until smooth. Serve sauce with your favorite grilled meats and grilled peach halves.
