- 1 pound dried Pinto beans ( 2 cups) sorted and rinsed
- 1 large onions chopped (1-1/2) cups
- 2 cloves garlic finely chopped
- 6-1/2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1-1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper

cover and cook on high heat setting 7-9 hours or until beans are tender
