"If you want to make PERFECT, FLUFFY rolls that come out GREAT every time, THIS is the only recipe you will ever need. Everyone who has had them wants the recipe. They are melt-in-mouth and FAIL-PROOF". ~Shawna Nero Newton
P.S. And, I PANIC if I ever even THINK I've lost this recipe!
Ingredients
- 2 c. scalded milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 pkgs. yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 2 beaten eggs
- 4 c. flour plus 3 as needed
- Melted butter
Preparation
Step 1
Combine the scalding milk, sugar, salt and shortening. Cool until lukewarm.
Dissolve yeast in the 1/4 c. lukewarm water and add the 1 tsp. sugar. Stir in lukewarm milk mixture. Add the 2 beaten eggs and then stir in 4 c. of the flour; beat thoroughly. Then add 3 c. flour or more, so it can be stirred into a dough without kneading. Brush with metted fat or butter. Cover tightly and store in refrigerator.
This dough will keep over a week. When wanted, form into rols and let rise about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Bake in 375 oven until light golden brown.
"This recipe makes about 20 rolls!" ~Ruth Lense
Note: I have had this dough rise in the fridge so be sure you want to use it farily quickly. The last time I wrapped it up in plastic wrap, it grew to the point of almost exploding. I felt like Lucille Ball in an I Love Lucy episode....~Shawna
