Ingredients

  • 2 c apples, cored, peeled and chopped
  • 2 T butter
  • 1/4 c brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 T flour
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 2 T water
  • 1/4 t salt
  • Bars
  • 1/2 c plus 6 T butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 1/2 c flour
  • 1 1/2 c oats
  • 1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt

Step 1

Filling
Combine all ingredients in a med saucepan and place over med heat.
Stir and allow to cook until apples are softened and sauce is thick.
Remove from heat.

Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9x13
Whisk together the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder and salt.
using a fork or pastry cutter add in the butter and work until well combines.
Press half of the mix into an even layer in the bottom of the pan.
Spread an even layer of the apple pie mixture over the bottom layer of the oat mixture.
Sprinkle an even layer of the remaining oat mix on top of the apple pie filling and place in the oven and bake for 30-40 min. Allow to cool completely and then cut into squares.
