Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups coarsely chopped apples, peeled
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/3 cup flour*
- 1 t baking soda
- 1/2 t salt
- 1 t cinnamon
- 1/2 t nutmeg
- 1/2 t allspice
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- *You can substitute whole wheat flour for half the all-purpose flour.

Preparation
Step 1
Combine prepared apples and sugar in large mixing bowl; let stand 10 minutes. Sift flour; add soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice; set aside.
Blend oil and egg into apple/sugar mixture. Add dry ingredients, stirring just until blended.
Fold in the raisins and walnuts.
Spread evenly in a greased 8-in square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes.
Cool 10 minutes. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
