Best Apple Pie

  • 2 Lbs. Granny Smith apples
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. milk
  • 1 recipe for a 9" double crust pie



Step 1

Peel and slice apples. Toss with sugars, cinnamon and flour. Set aside.

Place half the pastry into a 10" glass pie dish. Pour apple mixture into crust. Dot with butter. Put top crust onto pie and crimp crust edges together. Brush milk onto top crust, sprinkle with sugar. Cut slits into top crust to let steam escape.

Put into preheated 450 oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 and continue baking for about 45 minutes more, until crust is golden brown.
