Swedish Meatballs

This is a family favorite! Grandma's Swedish Meatballs is unlike the traditional recipe served with gravy. This tomato-based sauce is sweet and tangy. Perfect with rice or pasta. Recipe is quick and easy. Perfect for company.

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 tsp onion salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup fine breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 15oz can tomato sauce
- juice of 1 lemon, or lemon juice
- Best served with
- Cooked rice (optional) or
- Cooked pasta (optional)
Preparation
Step 1
Combine meat, onion salt, water, breadcrumbs, and egg; mix well and shape into small meatballs and set aside.
Combine brown sugar, tomato sauce and lemon juice in a saucepan and simmer about 3 minutes.
Add meatballs and continue to simmer approximately 45 minutes, or until meatballs are done.
