Madre's Marinara Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 16 oz can tomato paste
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/4 cup cooking sherry
  • 1 cube beef bouillon
  • 1/4 cup romano cheese
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp basil
  • 1/2 bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

Heat olive oil over medium heat in 2 quart saucepan. Add garlic and onions. Saute 1 minute. Add tomato paste, water, wine, beef bouillon cube, romano cheese, sugar and seasonings. Blend well and cook over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
