Au Gratin Potaoes

Ingredients

  • 4 russet potatoes sliced into 1/4 inch slices
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 Tbl butter
  • 3 Tbl flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cup cubed ham (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven 400

Butter 1 quart casserole dish
Mix potatoes and ham. Place into casserole dish.

In medium sauce pan, melt butter. Mix in flour and salt, stir constantly with a whisk for one minute. Stir in milk. Cook until mixture has thickened. Stir in cheese all at once. Stir until completely melted. Pour mixture over potatoes. Cover with foil.

Bake 1 1/2 hours. Remove foil for the last 5-10 minutes to brown.
