Jumbo Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Dutch processed cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temp
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 bag (11.5 oz) mega size semisweet chocolate morsels chips or pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups walnuts, coarsely chopped

Preparation

Step 1

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt into a medium size bowl.

2. In a large bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer on med-high speed until creamy, about 1 min. Add the granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until the mixture is fluffy, about 2 min. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla until well blended.

3. On low speed, beat the flour mixture into the butter mixture until well blended. Stir in chocolate pieces and walnuts.

4. For each cookie, drop a heaping Tbspful of dough onto ungreased baking sheet, spacing the mounds about 2" apart.

5. Bake the cookies in 375 degree oven until lightly golden, 9-11 min. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet on a wire rack for 2 min. Transfer the cookies to the wire rack; let cool.

6. Serve cookies warm or at room temp. Cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temp. for up to 5 days.
