Ingredients
- 1-1/2 Tbls. butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 3 Tbls. water
- 1 heaping cup flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 2 qts. Strawberries
- Whipped cream, optional

Preparation
Step 1
Melt butter. Add sugar, egg and water. Mix well. Sift flour, soda and baking powder. Add to mixture to make batter the consistency of soft biscuit dough. Grease 8” square pan. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes.
To serve: Split cake (through the middle) when cool. Crush 2 qts. Strawberries and put part between the layers and the rest on top. Top with whipped cream if desired.
