Ingredients
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1/4 c. oil
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. powder sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 . tsp. soda
- pinch salt
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350.
2.Cream granulated sugar, butter and vanilla by hand or in a KitchenAid.
3.Add powdered sugar, oil and eggs.
4.Sift together (in a separate bowl) flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar.
5.Slowly add to wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Add a cup of dry ingredient mixture at a time, mixing after each addition.
6.Form rounded teaspoonfuls into balls and place on ungreased Cookie Sheets.
7.Using a moistened paper towel wet the bottom of a glass, dip in colored sugar (re-dipping for each cookie) and flatten ball of dough. You may need to apply the moistened paper towel every so often, to keep glass wet and easily able to pick up sugar crystals.
8.Bake at 350 degrees for 11-13 minutes or until edges turn slightly brown. Remove immediately from cookie sheet and cool on wire rack.
Directions 2:
Cream both sugars, oil and butter. Add dry ingredients and eggs; mix well. Refrigerate or put in freezer a few minutes (this makes dough easier to work with). Roll dough into balls and flatten with glass dipped in sugar. Put a little of batter on bottom of glass so the sugar sticks to the bottom.
Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or until edges are brown.
Directions 3:
1. Heat oven to 400ºF. In large bowl, mix 3/4 cup sugar, the oil, baking powder, vanilla, salt and eggs with spoon. Stir in flour.
2. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Press bottom of glass onto dough to grease, then dip into additional sugar; press on balls until 1/4-inch thickness. Dip bottom of glass onto a wet paper towel, then dip into dry gelatin; press onto dough. Repeat until desired color appears.
3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes until light brown. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
Bake 350 7-8 minutes
