Ingredients
- Heat in a large skillet over medium heat:
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Remove the casings from and add:
- 4 sweet Italian sausages (about 1 pound)
- Cook, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until nicely browned, about 5 minutes. Stir in and cook for 1 minute:
- 3 large cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- Stir in:
- 1 large bunch broccoli rabe, trimmed and coarsely chopped, or 1 to 1 1/2 pounds broccoli, trimmed, stems peeled, and coarsely chopped
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Cover and cook just until tender, about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, cook in a large pot of boiling salted water:
- 1 pound orecchiette or cavatelli
