Cherry winks

Ingredients

  • frosting:
  • 1 pkg white cake mix
  • 1/2 c sour cream
  • 3 tbsp cherry juice
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c chopped maraschino cherries
  • 2 1/2 c powdered sugar
  • 1/4 c softened butter
  • 1 tbsp cherry juice
  • 2-3 tbsp milk or half and half
  • cherries cut into quarters

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350.
In large bowl, combine cake mix, sour cream, 3 tbsp cherry juice, almond extract and egg. Stir until well blended. Fold in cherries. Drop by teaspoonful. Bake 8-10 min or until browned slightly at edges. Cool completely before frosting.

In small bowl, combine all ingredients except cherries, adding enough liquid for desired consistency. Frost and top with cherries.
