BEST EVER CHILI

This chili has several histories. It is said that it was Chasen's Chili and Elizabeth Taylor used to have it sent to her where ever she was shooting. True or not, it is the best chili I have ever eaten!

Ingredients
- 1 cup pinto beans
- 5 cups tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 pound chopped green peppers (about 3 cups)
- 1/2 pounds chopped onions (4 cups)
- 1 1/2 tsp salad oil
- 1/2 cups chopped parsley (fresh)
- 1 lb ground pork and 2 1/2 pounds ground beef or just use 3 lbs ground beef
- 1/3 cup chili power
- 1/2 butter (I don't use that much)
- salt
- pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp cumin
- calls for msg which i never use
Preparation
Step 1
Wash beans, soak over night in water. Simmer covered in same water until tender. Add tomatoes and simmer 5 minutes. Saute green pepper in oil for about 5 minutes . Add onion, cook until tender.
Add garlic and parsley.
Melt butter and saute meat for 15 minutes. Add meat to inion mix, stir in chili powder, and cook for 10 minutes. Add this to beans, then add spices. simmer covered for 1 hour. Cook uncovered for 30 minutes.
serves 8-10 Freezes beautifully!
