Ingredients

  • ICING:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 5 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 6 Tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 5 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a 10x15 sheet can pan. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix in sour cream. Beat in eggs. Set aside. In a saucepan, melt butter then stir in water and cocoa. Bring mixture to a boil, then remove from heat. Allow to cool slightly, then stir cocoa mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing until blended. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. While cake is baking prepare icing.
In large saucepan, combine the milk, cocoa and butter. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Stir in the powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until blended. Spread frosting over hot cake as soon as you remove it from the oven. This part is imperative!
