Sopapillas

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp shortening
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/4 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

Sift flour, salt, baking powder and sugar. Cut in shortening and add milk to make a soft dough, just firm enough to roll. Cover bowl and let dough stand for 30 – 60 minutes. Then roll 1/4 “ thick on lightly floured board; cut in diamond shaped pieces. Drop into oil 370 degrees. Drain on paper towels. Roll in cinnamon sugar.
