Homemade Breadsticks (Butter dips)

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 450*. In a square pan (9x9x2), melt butter in oven. Remove pan.

Measure flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Add milk, stir just until dough forms.

Turn dough onto well floured board. Roll dough around to coat with flour. knead lightly about 10 times.

Roll into an 8-inch square. With floured knife, cut each half into 4 inch strips. Dip each strip into melted butter, coating each side, and then arrange in 2 rows in pan.

Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown. Sprinkle lightly with garlic salt and poppy seeds.
