Linzer torte from Sandy Kahn

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 1 cup raspberry preserves
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1.5 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup ground nuts

Preparation

Step 1

cream margarine add sugar slowly.
Add egg yolks one at a time.
mix and sift flour, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves and salt.
Add to margarine , stir in nuts. Mix and chill.
Pat 2/3 of the dough into a 9’ layer pan. Spread preserves.
Roll our remaining dough and cut into ¾’ strips.
Bake in moderate oven 50-60 minutes or until edge of strips recede from sides of pan.
Remove from pan and cool and serve.
