Ingredients
- Cookies:
- 1-3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
- 1/2 cup butter at room temperature
- 2 TBS milk
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 24 about 24 maraschino cherries, well drained
- Glaze:
- 2-1/4 cups confectioner's sugar
- 3 TBS water
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup, divided
- 1-1/2 tsp vegetable oil
- 3/4 tsp almond extract
- 3-4 drops food colour
Preparation
Step 1
1. Oven 350 degrees. Knead together flour, sugar, butter, milk and almond extract.
2. Shape about 2 TBS douugh around a well-drained maraschino cherry and roll into a ball. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and press down on ball gently to flatten out bottoms.
3. Bake for 15" or until cookies are firm, but not brown. Transfer to racks to cool completely
Glaze:
In small bowl mix all ingredients together until smooth. Dip cookies in glaze to coat and set on racks until dry, about 30".
