BUTTER YEAST ROLLS

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine melted

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in warm water, let stand 5 minutes. Combine boiling water, 1/2 cup butter, sugar, and salt in a large bowl, stir well. Cool to 105 to 155 degrees. Add egg, 1 cup flour and yeast mixture, mixing well. Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough cover and chill 2-3- hours. Turn dough out on a floured surface, and knead 4-5 times. Roll out to 1/4" thickness, cut with a 2" biscuit cutter, and brush with melted butter. Make a crease across each circle, and fold one half over. Gently press edges to seal. Place on greased baking sheet, bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 2 dozen.
