Ingredients
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 8-oz. cans tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup dry red wine
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 6-oz. can tomato paste
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 12 oz. lasagne noodles
- 1 lb. ricotta cheese
- 1/2 lb. thinly sliced mozzarella
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan
Preparation
Step 1
Saute onion in oil until soft, add beef and garlic and cook, stirring, until meat is brown and crumbly. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, wine and water. Add salt, oregano, pepper and sugar, stirring until mixed. Cover pan and simmer 1-1/2 hours.
Cook noodles until tender (or use no-cook noodles).
Layer 1/3 of noodles, 1/3 meat sauce, top with 1/3 of ricotta and 1/3 of mozzarella. Repeat. Top with parmesan.
Bake uncovered at 350° for 30 minutes.
