Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs. dry black-eyed peas, rinsed and soaked overnight
- 4 cups water
- 8 oz. smoked ham, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 oz. can green chilies
- 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. cumin
- 1 tsp. salt
Preparation
Step 1
Soak peas overnight in 6-8 cups water. Drain and put into a slow cooker. Add remaining ingredients. Stir to combine. Cook on high 6 hours. Check seasoning and add more to taste. Cook until ready to serve.
