English Toffee

Ingredients

  • 1 heaping cup sugar
  • 1/2 lb. cold butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons hot water
  • 2 chocolate Hershey's® bars or chocolate chips
  • Chopped walnuts

Preparation

Step 1

Place a large heavy pan on stove on high temp. Heat pan till it is very hot. Pour sugar and water in pan and stir for about 5 seconds. Add cold butter and salt, melt butter by stirring vigorously. Keep stirring until mixture is frothy and light brown. Remove from heat. Pour onto a greased cookie sheet. Spread to about 1/8th inch thick. Place chocolate onto mixture and allow to melt then spread. Sprinkled with chopped nuts
