Banana Pudding from Scratch

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 box Vanilla Wafers
  • 4 medium bananas



Step 1

Mix flour, sugar, and salt; add milk slowly. Stir constantly over medium heat until thickened (about 15 minutes). Beat egg yolks in bowl and stir slowly into mixture. Cook 5 more minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Line bottom of casserole dish with vanilla wafers and bananas and pour some custard over the top. Repeat layers, ending with custard on top.

Beat egg whites until stiff Add 1/4 cup sugar and whip till it forms stiff peaks. Spread over custard and bake at 450 for 5 minutes or until brown.
