Apple Pie

  • 1 recipe Pastry for double-crust pie
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 6 cups cycled apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter



Step 1

Combine sugar, cinnamon, salt, lemon rind and flour in mixing bowl. Arrange applied layers in 9 inch pastry lined pan, sprinkling cinnamon-sugar mixture over each layer. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Dot with butter. Roll out remaining dough. Cut slits for escape of steam. Moisten rim of bottom curst. Place top crust over filling. Fold edge under bottom crust, pressing to seal. Bake at 450 degree for 10 minutes, than 375 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes, until apples are tender when pierced with fork.
