I don't remember where this recipe came from. I'm not a baker but my husband loves his butter tarts and loves these.
- 1 cup melted butter
- 3 Tbsp vinegar
- 4 eggs, lightly beaten
- 4 cups brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
- Personally I buy tart liners already made. (haven't experienced making pastry yet)
Cooking time 45mins
Line tart tins with pastry. Sprinkle 6-8 raisins into each shell. (more is better in my house).
Let butter cool to room temperature, then add the remaining ingredients, stir until smooth.
Spoon into unbaked tart shells, filling about 2/3 full.
Bake at 200 F for 15 minutes, (do not remove tarts from oven), then turn oven to 350 F Bake for another 10-+15 minutes until they start to brown.
* This method prevents them from boiling over.
