Tips for Baked Clams
this is a list of hacks I have found to make it easier to make on a weeknight christmas eve

Step 1
1) soak for 20 minutes to 1 hour in fresh water right before cooking - this is enough time for the clams to naturally clean themselves of sand and salt
2) next pull the clams out of the water - if you dump into strainer then putting the sand back in!!!
3) then scrub with a scrub brush for barnicles, etc
4) fill pot with steamer insert with 1 inch of water, heat to simmering, add clams and cover
5)Cook, covered, for 4 to 6 minutes, or until all shells open up.
6) Take off heat; remove clams from pan, reserving liquid.
7) Let clams cool slightly. Pull off top shell and remove clam from shell to a cutting board.
8)Coarsely chop clams.
9) heat up broiler
9) make your breadcrumb mix, mix with clams and put in clam shells
10) Broil stuffed clams for 2 to 3 minutes, until browned on top. Serve warm.
