Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, optional
- Confectioners’ sugar for dusting
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350ºF and prepare an 8×8-inch baking dish with baking spray.
Bring butter and molasses to a boil, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and add brown sugar, whisking to cool the mixture.
Whisk in egg until fluffy.
Combine dry ingredients and incorporate into molasses mixture.
Fold in nuts.
Pour mixture into baking dish and spread evenly.
Bake 25 minutes, or until center is set.
Once cool, dust with confectioners’ sugar, slice into bars.
