Overnight Coffee Cake/ Ma's

Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 3/4 cup stick Butter
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Buttermilk or 1 cup milk soured with 1 tsp vinegar (I use)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts if desired. I used at least a cup and wished I had added more (Pecans or Walnuts).

Preparation

Step 1

Mix white & brown sugar together, cream with butter, beat in eggs, add 1 cup flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder into it , then add some of the milk. Then add the other cup of flour alternately with milk ending with flour. Pour into greased pan.

Sprinkle the topping mixture evenly over it and put it in the refrig. Bake in the morning.

Use greased 9 x 13 Bake 350 degrees for 30-45 min. until cake tests done -golden brown.

You can make it the night before, and it turns out better, but you can make it and bake it the next day.
