Ingredients
- 1 stick butter
- 1 1/3 c. sugar, divided
- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 (16 oz.) can pitted sour cherries

Step 1
Melt the butter in an 8x8 inch baking dish. Cool. Blend 1 cup of sugar, flour and baking powder. Mix in the milk to form a batter. Turn batter into the baking dish.
Mix 1/3 cup sugar with cherries and put on top of batter. The batter will come to the top during baking. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until golden. Serves 6-8.
