  • 1/2

    c. butter, softened

  • 1

    c. sugar

  • 2

    eggs

  • 1 1/2

    c. flour

  • 1/2

    c. cocoa

  • 1/2

    tsp. salt

  • 1/2

    tsp. baking powder

  • 1/2

    tsp. baking soda

  • 1

    c. buttermilk

  • 1/3

    c. chopped pecans or sliced almonds (opt)

  • Chocolate Honey Butter:

  • 1/2

    c. butter

  • 2

    T. honey

  • 2

    T. chocolate syrup

Directions

Heat oven to 350ยบ. Cream butter & sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. In separate bowl, combine dry ingredients; mix well. Add to creamed butter while alternately adding buttermilk. Fold in nuts. Pour into a greased 9x5" loaf pan. Bake for 55-60 minutes or til tests done. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to wire rack to cool completely. For butter: mix ingredients well. Serve spread on slices of bread.
