Deep Dark Chocolate Cake/ Bert's Favorite

Ingredients

  • Frosting:
  • 1 3/4 Cups Flour
  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 3/4 Cup Hersheys Cocoa
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Veg. Oil
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Cup Boiling Water
  • 6 T. Butter
  • 3/4 Hersheys Cocoa (Cup Dark Flavor)
  • 2 2/3 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1/3 Cup Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Combine dry ingredients in large mixing bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. Beat at medium speed for 2 mins. Remove from mixer, stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour into two greased and floured 9" or three 8" layer pans or 9x13 pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 mins for 9x13.
30-35 mins. layer pans.
Test with tooth picks. Should come out clean.
Butter Cream Frosting:
In a small bowl, cream butter, cocoa and powdered sugar with some milk, until smooth and spreading consistency. Additional milk may be needed. Blend in vanilla. Makes about 2 Cups.
