Ingredients

  • Pear mixture
  • 6 large pears, Bartlett, Anjou or Bosc
  • 1/3 c flour
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 9 inch pie crust
  • Streusel topping
  • 1/3 c flour
  • 1/3 c packed brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp chilled butter, cut into small pieces
  • Caramel sauce
  • 1/3 c packed brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp heavy cream
  • 2 Tbsp soft butter
  • 2 tsp water
  • Whipped cream

Step 1

Peel, core and cut pears into ½” slices. (If Bosc, cut into smaller slices.) Sprinkle with lemon juice. Combine dry ingredients and sprinkle over pears.Turn mixture into 9” pie crust.Top with streusel topping.Bake at 375 degrees one hour, or until top is golden and pears are done.
Streusel topping: 1/3 c flour 1/3 c packed brown sugar 3 Tbsp chilled butter, cut into small pieces - Cut butter into flour and packed brown sugar until mixture resembles small peas.
Caramel sauce 1/3 c packed brown sugar 3 Tbsp heavy cream 2 Tbsp soft butter 2 tsp water - Combine sugar, cream and butter. Bring to boil and cook 1 minute.Remove from heat and stir in water.Let cool and serve over individual pieces of pie - top with whipped cream.
