Egg and cheese puff

Ingredients

  • 16 slices white bread
  • butter
  • 1/2 lb grated cheddar
  • 1 medium onion
  • 6 eggs well beaten
  • 1 qt milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Trim crust from bread and butter each slice. Arrange 8 slices buttered side down in a 9 x 13 baking dish. Cover bread with cheese and onion. Top with rest of bread buttered side up. Combine eggs milk and seasonings. Pour over bread.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Bake in a pan filled with water in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
Serve hot!
