Ingredients
- Meatballs (I made my own with 1lb of hamburger but you could easily use frozen meatballs or make your own favorite recipe.)
- 2 cups pasta sauce (more or less depending on your taste. I make my own sauce because it is so easy but, the jar kind is good too.)
- 1 8oz ball of fresh mozzarella
- 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan
- Italian seasonings.
- 1/2 onion
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 tbsp of Italian seasonings
- 1 tsp fennel seed
- 2 28 oz cans of crushed tomatoes
- 1 15oz can tomato sauce
Preparation
Step 1
Ladle a layer of pasta sauce on the bottom of an 11 x 7 pan. Place cooked meatballs in pan. Ladle remaining pasta sauce over to cover meatballs. Chop fresh mozzarella into cubes and sprinkle over top. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning to taste. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes, until hot.
Chop onion and sauté in a large saucepan until soft. Use garlic press on the garlic cloves and add to onions. Sauté for only a minute, add in Italian seasoning and fennel seeds to toast herbs for another minute. Add in crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Simmer on low for an hour or so.
I make a large batch and freeze leftovers in a gallon size plastic bag. That way you can break off a chunk for a quick weeknight dinner.
