Ingredients
- 2 cups half and half
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1/3 cup lime juice
- 1 1/2 teaspoons grated lime peel
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Step 1
In a saucepan, combine sugar and lime zest. Add milk and cook over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and mixture reaches 175 degrees F. Temp eggs and add to milk mixture. Cook without boiling to custard stage. Cool to room temperature. Stir in the lime juice and heavy cream. Put in the refrigerator 4 hors to overnight. Freeze in an ice cream freezer according to manufacturer's directions.
Allow to firm up in your refrigerator freezer for 4 hours before serving.
Add crumbled graham crackers to frozen ice cream at the end of freezing for key lime pie ice cream.
