Bread Pudding and Vanilla Sauce

Ingredients

  • Bread Pudding:
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 10 slices bread, toasted and cubed
  • 1 cup raisins
  • Vanilla Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1

Bread Pudding:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In mixing bowl, whisk eggs, white and brown sugar, cinnamon, butter and milk.
Gently stir in bread cubes and raisins.
Lightly spoon into baking dish.
Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, cover after 30 minutes to avoid excess browning.
Resume baking until it is set in the middle.
Let pudding stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Vanilla Sauce:

In a baggie, place sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon.
Shake to mix.
Whisk in sauce pan over medium heat, sugar mixture, flour, egg, melted butter, milk and salt.
Heat until sauce thickens and coats back of spoon.
Stir in vanilla extract.
Serve on warm bread putting.
