Ingredients
- 5 tablespoons butter (divided)
- 3 tablespoons diced onions
- 1/4 cup whiskey
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- dash of salt
- Fresh ground pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup light cream
Preparation
Step 1
In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
Add onion and cook until brown (about 4 minutes).
Turn off burner.
Add Whiskey OR beef broth.
When whiskey has evaporated burn burner on to medium heat.
Add remaining beef broth.
Add salt and pepper.
Whisk in another tablespoon of butter.
Allow mixture to become bubbly (about 30 seconds).
Reduce heat to low.
Over low heat, add cream.
Add more cream if mixture looks too thin.
Allow to simmer.
Cook steaks:
Brown steaks in skillet with remaining butter.
Cook 4 minutes on each side for medium rare.
